I’m a PhD researcher in the Durham Physics Department, investigating the real-time tracking of ions across solid-liquid interfaces for medical and energy applications, but really I spend a lot of my time ballroom dancing and perfecting mixing margaritas.

I'm a Postdoctoral Researcher in Biosciences at Durham University, studying human skin ageing and how to potentially restore skin health. Outside of work, I’m a crochet addict who loves talking about science, reading (mainly sci-fi and historical fiction) and visiting old and new places!

Event Manager
I'm now in the Strategy, Planning and Insight Office at Durham University, but with a background and PhD in biophysics (and astrophysics further back than that). I enjoy talking to people, learning about new science, and sitting in pubs!
Cameron McAllister
Event Manager
I’m a biophysics PhD student working in the Department of Physics at Durham University trying to ‘listen’ to the low-frequency vibrations of proteins. In my spare time I enjoy reading and writing about science, running, and bouldering!
Melissa Ramsay

I am a Research Assistant in the Department of Psychology, with a background in Comparative Cognition and Animal Behaviour. You can usually find me with a book, cup of tea or yoga mat in hand.
Amy Smith
Event Manager
I’m a PhD researcher in Durham physics, looking at new methods of making 2D materials. I can usually be found in the lab talking to my samples, or with a big mug of tea doing some painting.
Francesco Sergio
Event Manager
I'm Francesco and I love telling stories about physics. I'm an outreach researcher in the Physics Department. My role is to engage with people who are not typically involved in science, making cosmology and particle physics accessible to them.
Andreia Carrillo
Event Manager
I'm a postdoctoral researcher at the Institute for Computational Cosmology and I'm interested in how our Galaxy, the Milky Way, came to be. For fun, I like to move my body (dancing, gym, running, etc.) and sing at open mics.

I am a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Institute for Particle Physics Phenomenology, focusing on developing quantum computing algorithms. I am particularly interested in physics at high-energy particle colliders, such as the LHC. There’s nothing I enjoy more than sitting in a pub, chatting science!
Lauren Billett
Event Manager
I’m a PhD student in the Chemistry department at Durham University, studying cofactor mimics to allow us to move reactions into more sustainable solvents, like water! Outside the lab, I like to go for walks and try my hand at birdwatching, and I’ve just started getting into baking!
Harish Charan
Event Manager
I am a postdoc at the Physics department working on soft matter physics trying to understand the mechanical properties of disordered solids. My work is a combination of theory and simulations. In my free time, I like to hike, play guitar, read, paint and make epoxy resin crafts.
Tatenda Goche
Event Manager
I’m a Royal Society Newton Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Biosciences. My research focuses on facilitating ‘arranged marriages’ between soil microbes and plant systems. Outside the lab, you can find me at the cinema or basketball court, binge-watching series, listening to Gojira or sleeping.
Matthew Kirk
Tech
I'm a postdoctoral researcher at Durham University, and I spend my time thinking about how potential new particles could be discovered and if they could give clues as to why our universe exists. I also enjoy playing games (both board and video), walking and spending some quality time in a pub!

I am currently a master's student in Durham, majoring in Data Science. Before coming to Durham, I worked as a data analyst at the eBay Shanghai office for three years. In my leisure time, I am also a part-time vlogger on Instagram, where I try to capture the beautiful things that happen in my life.
